Love Blooms is a new series of sweet interracial romance shorts and novellas. Showcasing what I've chosen to tag as ‘Vibrant Interracial Romance’.
What do I mean by ‘vibrant interracial’ romance? I want my stories and characters to resonate — to set off an empathetic vibration in my readers because life has taken them into some of the same valleys and has them hoping to reach the same mountain tops.
I love my characters, and I don't want to say their emotions are my playground, but I do believe I can bring out through them -- feelings, life experiences, joy and pain that most anyone can relate to. I don't put them through all their struggles just to create drama-- they're headed somewhere. On their way to discover real connection to another person, a true soul mate. The good and bad they've lived through before they get to that glorious place are the seeds planted so that Love may bloom.
BLACKOUT IN THE GARDEN OF LOVE is Vol#1 of the LOVE BLOOM SERIES.

Novellas have never been tops on my "to read" list. Interracial novellas have especially been problematic for me. They always seem to be heavy on the sex, but light on the sweetness and romance. But, the premise of "Blackout in the Garden of Love" was so interesting that I decided to give it a try. I am so happy that I did. This short tale of a blind date that starts out as a nightmare, but ends up as a blessing was just what this cynical reader needed. Both Amerise and John are unpleasantly surprised upon meeting each other for their blind date. They both feel that they have nothing in common and they can't understand why their friends put them together. One disaster after the other occurs on their date, so they decide to go their own separate ways. Then fate intervenes and these two actually lower their guards and get to know each other.
I liked both of these characters. Their hesitancy and initial awkwardness with each other was honest and rang true. I understood their motivations and actions. The chemistry was good and there were some laugh out loud situations. As the night wore on, it became apparent why these two were set up on a date. But most importantly, I understood why they began to open up to each other.
The beauty of this tale is its simplicity. There are no gimmicks here. It is just two lonely people taking a chance on one another. I adored this little slice of life and I look forward to others in this new, sweet series.

Blackout in the Garden of Love Love Blooms Series Book 1 edition by Venice Kennedy Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews
This is a delightfully sweet interracial romantic story between two mismatched souls who don't realize how perfect they are together until they're stranded with one another during a city-wide blackout.
John and Amerise are on blind date, arranged by a mutual friend. Things go from bad to worse, especially when their disastrous dinner date is interrupted by a blackout on one of the hottest nights of the year. With the city packing the streets and the sweltering temperatures rising, John and Amerise reconnect and realize they have far more in common than they originally thought.
The author does a realistic job of taking them from strained animosity to acceptance and finally romantic interest. Ms. Kennedy has a unique voice, and tells a sweet tale that leaves the reader with a contented sigh at the end. A beautiful story with believable and well-defined characters!
This was a great book. The characters where a perfect example of don't judge a book by its cover you will never know what you could possibly miss.
I would have given it 5 stars if it had been a little longer. The blind date scene in the restaurant was very realistic. The fact that those 2 people and their personalities being put into an unfamiliar situation and managing to come out smiling. It could very well happen.
this was s short, short story. There's no sex involved--just a bad blind date that winds up going right. the end.
This short story is a refreshing change from the usual IR fare. The protagonists don't jump into bed 5 minutes after meeting and 2 minutes later declare their undying love. Rather, it is the story of two people don't immediately click, but who discover through a shared experience of a blackout that they have a lot more in common then they originally thought. I found the inner dialogue of the man quite interesting and the female protagonist was a strong character. The ending was lovely and foreshadowed a relationship full of promise.
